The style of this Chinese antique Altar cabinet has great influence of Mongolian furniture during Qing Dynasty (Qing Dynasty in China was ruled by Mongolian people). The intricate relief carvings of "dragon scroll" design motif decorate the surface of top two drawers. The panels for the lower drawer are carved with "deer under cypress tree" design and Chinese calligraphy of "double longevity". The spandrels and the bottom apron of the cabient are carved with "dragon and scroll" design. The carvings of this cabinet are very delicate and three dimensional. The detailed handwork in making this cabinet show great craftsmanship. The coffer is handcrafted and structured with wooden pegs and tenon structure, which is the very traditional craftsmanship for furniture making in ancient China. Original Wear and Patina. Handmade from Elm wood with beautiful wood grain, the coffer is very solid and has been kept in excellent condition. Circa early of 19th century.
