Antique Chinese Storage Trunk (5693), Phoebe Nanmu/Cypress wood, Circa 1800-1849

This Antique Chinese Stacked Storage Trunk was originally made as gift trunk for sending gifts to a special person or special occasion. The traditional Chinese calligraphy of "Fortune, Prosperity, Longevity and Happiness" are hand painted on the front of trunk. The trunk is handcrafted and structured with wooden pegs and tenon structure, which is the very traditional craftsmanship for furniture making in ancient China. The trunk is made with several layers of stacked trays. The ornate carvings decorate the stand of the trunk. Made from combination of Phoebe Nanmu/Cypress wood wood with beautiful wood grain, the trunk is very solid and has been kept in excellent condition. Original patina and wear. Circa early to mid of 19th century.
