This antique Chinese Petit Altar is Circa in the early 19th century. Intricate carvings of the Chinese folk fairy tale " Liu plays toad" (also known as "The Story of Liu Hai and Jinchan") decorate the spandrels of the cabinet. The bottom apron of the cabinet is carved with dragon and animal designs. The carvings of the cabinet are very delicate and three-dimensional. Two small side drawers and one center cabinet have copper hardware. Original patina and wear. The cabinet is handcrafted and structured with wooden pegs and a tenon structure, which is the very traditional craftsmanship for furniture making in ancient China. Made of elmwood with natural wood grain, the cabinet is very solid and has been kept in excellent condition.
