This antique Chinese Desk in elegant Ming Dynasty Style is a true rare-find. The intricate carving of "Ice Chips" design decorated the bottom rack of the desk. The copper hardware is uniquely crafted. The desk is handcrafted and structured with wooden pegs and tenons structure-the very traditional craftsmanship for furniture making in ancient China. The whole desk was made of Chinese traditional Zelcova (a precious domestic subspecies of Elm) This type of wood was the favorite timber by Suzhou cabinet maker during the early Ming Dynasty as the counter part to Phoebe which is so precious that only available to Royal family. Zleova was once completely exausted during late Ming Dynasty and reappeared then extinct again in mordern time. Circa early 19th century. Original patina and wear. The desk is very solid and has been kept in excellent condition.
