Antique Chinese Treasure Trunk (5552), Zelkova wood, Circa 1800-1849

This Chinese treasure trunk is handcrafted in the elegant Ming “waist” style, featuring a narrower carved waist connecting the top and body. Double-line swirl carvings accent all edges, showcasing refined Ming–Qing craftsmanship. Originally used by wealthy families to store gold and silver before the use of paper money, the trunk is four-sided and in excellent condition. Made of solid Zelkova wood with beautiful natural grain, it is constructed with traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery and retains its original patina and embossed copper lock. Circa early 19th century. (Also suitable as a coffee table.)
