Antique Chinese Screen Panel (2696), Cunninghamia wood, Circa 1800-1849
This antique Chinese Screen Panel was originally made for inside window decoration in Buddhist Temples,(like shutters). The Panel was collected from demolished Buddhist Temples along Yangtze River area. Handcrafted with traditional Chinese design motif. The top medallion is ornately carved with Chinese calligraphy of "double happiness". The screen panel is hand painted in two color tone to highlight the intricate carvings. The panel is handcrafted and structured with wooden pegs and tenon structure, which is the very traditional craftsmanship for furniture making in ancient China. Can be used for wall hanging, Headboards or any home decoration. Circa early of 19th century. Original patina and wear. Made from Cunninghamia wood (trees in cypress family), the panel is very solid and has been kept in excellent Condition.
