Antique Ming Horseshoe Chair (2568), Cypress Wood, Circa 1800-1849
This antique Chinese horseshoe arm Chair is handcrafted in elegant Ming style. The arm and the back of the chair is carved with one single plank of wood. The intricate relief carvings of traditional Chinese "dragon" design decorate the back splat of the chair. The front panel underneath the seat is nicely carved into "arch" shape with unique carving edges. The chair is handcrafted with wooden pegs and tenon structure, which is the very traditional craftsmanship for furniture making in ancient China. Circa early of 19th century. Original wear and patina. Made from Cypress wood with beautiful wood grain, the chair is very solid and has been kept in excellent condition.
